Kundalini Kriya for Converting Sexual Energy into Ojas

Have you heard of Ojas? It is a form of life force and of literally vital importance for you! But nonetheless everyone spends a lot of it – and often doesn't even know about it.

Ojas is mostly mentioned in ayurvedic contexts (yoga's sister science). It is one of three types of life energy in the body: Ojas, Tejas and Prana. They relate to the three doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) in a way that Ojas is often associated with fluid, Tejas with fire and Prana with air.

Why is Ojas important?

Ojas is of vital importance to your health and wellbeing.Running low on Ojas means illness and sickness. Is your Ojas completely depleted you will transition into non-physical (meaning die).

There are many aspects that have an effect on the amount of Ojas that you have in your body. Food, sleep, lifestyle, breath, sex and water intake are just some factors.

Because Ojas is associated with your sexual energy and fluids, it easily gets depleted if you give away sexual fluids (in Sanskrit called Shukra). You can imagine that a little like a credit card system: You have a certain amount of Ojas (money on your card) and through the right lifestyle you get more of it. If you now spend too much of it, you naturally run into trouble.

Replenish your Ojas

That's why there are practices to replenish and safe your Ojas.

Kundalini Yoga is known for its many different Kriyas (actions) that have a strong impact on the physical body. So it doesn't surprise that Yogi Bhajan, one of the leading teachers of Kundalini Yoga, came up with a way to sublimate Ojas out of your sexual fluids (Shukras) back into the body.

The Kriya can be used both by men and women and is a quick and powerful technique for transmutation of sexual energy.

Watch the instructions in this video to know exactly how to practice this powerful Kriya:

Be aware that the Kriya to Convert Sexual Energy into Ojas should not be practiced longer than 11 minutes on each side, with an awareness phase or Savasana (corpse pose) or both at the end.

It can also be helpful if you feel a buildup of sexual pressure / tension. It helps sublimate that pressure into the higher Chakras (energy centers) and therefore lets you focus your energy on other things than your sexual desires.
